Santa Salt Dough Ornaments

When Justin and I were dating, every year at Christmas we made it a point to go and paint our own ornaments at the pottery place. As the years went on, we got to get our kids in on the fun. Unfortunately, we haven’t went in the last few years; however, I saw some adorable homemade salt dough ornaments on Pinterest and had to try it! I’m not the craftiest person in the world, so when I saw it only took a few ingredients to make, I thought I’d gave it a whirl! Shoutout to Babyccino Kids for the awesome idea! Here is their guide on it! I’m sharing the recipe below, as well as a few tips I learned!

As I previously mentioned, I love that it’s only 3 ingredients! Mix the flour and salt in the bowl and gradually add water until combined. Knead by hand for a couple of minutes.

Roll out dough on a floured surface
(about an inch in thickness) and press your child’s hands in the dough. Then cut out the hand shape with a sharp knife.

After baking for 2 hours on each side, I let it sit and harden overnight. Then use acrylic paint to paint the entire print white (2 coats). Let it dry and then paint on the Santa using two coats as well.

I love how they turned out and it was so easy!
Now we have sweet keepsakes forever!
